My dear sweet Lucy,
You are now 21 months old. What a month it has been!
You've steadily been working on using the potty. If you don't have pants on you'll tell me you need to pee, but it's been a chilly spring so we haven't had much naked time. However I have a week off in June and I plan on it being naked naked naked for you! You are 100% for telling me when you need to poop, 85% for telling daddy and exactly 0% for telling Isaiah. Not sure what's up with that, but I'm hoping you'll get there soon.
Speaking of naked... you LOVE to run around naked after your bath. Sometimes you attack your sister that way and she thinks you're hilarious. Well, we all do!
It's been a chilly spring but we've had some warm days in the past week and you spend some time outside naked... with shoes on because our deck is so splintery. We call you "Little T" cause you have a pot belly like Tony Soprano. You're the most adorable naked kid on the block.
You and your big sister have had some super fun times lately.
Tea parties (both on land and in water) where she pours the tea and you say "cheers!" and then you both giggle.
She has taught you the fine art of licking the beaters after making cupcakes (and frosting)
A new game she calls "Blast off!" where daddy drags you guys around or she drags you. Much hilarity ensues, although I'm just waiting for someone to get hurt.
Beading!Well you just like to dump (or throw) the beads all over but you like watching Ruby work.
We took another trip to the zoo, with Cormac (mo-mac) (who you refused to share a stoller with) and Lainey (ya-nee). You had a great time looking at the ducks, and you wanted to get in the water with them, but I wouldn't let you, I know... I'm so mean. You also really loved the otters, who doesn't? I'm hoping we can take one more trip to the zoo before your sister gets out of school, as it will be a completely different experience with the two of you. I do forsee some fun zoo trips this summer though!
We went to a Cinco de Mayo party, well it was just a few mama friends swapping clothes and chatting but there were chips and guacamole and margaritas. You enjoyed the swing and the chickens and blowing bubbles with the other kids and then you stole my margarita! Don't worry, it wasn't alcoholic because mama had just found out that she's going to have another baby! You don't understand it at all though I try to talk about it a little. I'm sure it'll make more sense as my belly gets bigger.
One night after bath Ruby insisted on turning a blanket into a cape, and so you did too! You've started doing so much pretend play. You'll pretend to feed your little friends a snack or give them a drink of water, you talk on the phone, and you make us pretend snacks/tea. It's very very sweet!
My darling Lucy, you are an amazing toddler. Every day you do things that completely blow my mind. You are developing so differently than your sister, which is both mind blowing and heart wrenching. You challenge me on a daily basis with your communication skills and your steadfast personality. You are smart and sweet and so very funny. You have started referring to yourself as "yu yu" or if I say "who's is this?" You reply "yu yus!" So incredibly adorable. You are still nursing several times a day, even though there isn't much milk. I wasn't sure how I would like nursing through a pregnancy but so far it's just fine, as long as we set some limits (which you're not entirely a fan of). However I love our nursing time or "nanas" as you call it, I love the quiet, the connection and the sweet look of happiness you get on your face.
You've recently started saying "wuv yu" and waving your hand trying to sign I love you, and every time it completely slays me. You are a delight to spend time with, and quite frankly a really great human being. You are so sweet and so kind and becoming so very interesting. I feel so lucky to be your mama.
All my love, mama
