My husband decided a while back to resurrect our old fish tank. Ruby was in LOVE with Finding Nemo, and fish fish fish was all the rage. Of course, fish die (all the time) and we've had quite a turn over of neons and guppies in our tank. Recently Ryan decided to buy a male and a female (instead of just the colorful males) guppy... and see what happened.
Within two days of being in the same tank, he was ALL OVER her ass. constantly following her, getting up in her business. Lo and behold a week later she was fattening up. I asked Ryan what he knew about guppy breeding, ie: how long gestation, how many are born, are they live or just eggs? All he knew was that she'd have about 12-15 and that the neons would eat some of them. Mmmm circle of life, eh?
So we've been watching, waiting, wondering. I'd had a dream about seeing baby fish in the tank and then the next day noticed that mama fish wasn't so fat anymore. Sure enough... we've got 5 baby guppies swimming around in the reeds!
they are hard to see, but that fuzzy brown thing near the top is a baby guppy!
We can only assume that the rest were neon nosh but there seem to be several survivors.
This can only been seen as a good omen, no?
